In Brooklyn's Midwood neighborhood, many businesses have their shutters rolled down, and the few that are open limit the number of people who can enter. A kosher pizza shop has oits shutters rolled down, but hopes to open before Passover.

On March 15, 1970, the University of Wisconsin - Madison Teaching Assistants' Association voted to strike, and the campus was filled with picket lines as well as demonstrations of related and other issues. The strike lasted until early April, when the Association and University came to an agreement.

Thousands of students as well as adults gathered in New York for the Global Climate Strike, meeting in Foley Square near the Federal Government buildings and New York's City Hall, and marching downtown to Battery Park, where Swedish climate activist and spokesperson Greta Thunberg addressed the crowd. A young woman has "prosescute polluters" lettered on her cheeks.

  • Brooklyn, NY – 24 October 2020. A line of people eager to vote stretched for 0.6 mile (1 km) a half hour after the polls opened on the first day of early voting in New York. The doors at the early voting location at Brooklyn College in the Midwood neighborhood opened for voters at 10:00 AM, and a poll worker reported that the first person to arrive got to the doors at 4:30 that morning.   • New York, NY - 19 May 2022. The Frieze Art Fair opened to the public in The Shed, an exhibit space in Hudson Yards, with 65 galleries displaying contemporary art in several media. Many of the galleries had labels placed only 3 feet (less than 1 meter) from the floor, and visitors had to either bend down or photograph them in order to read them.

  • Brooklyn, NY - 15 April 2020. Worn and tattered corrugated bins which once held fruit in front of New Best Fruit and Vegetables on Flatbush Avenue sit empty in front of the shuttered store. Stores and restaurants near Brooklyn College in Brooklyn's Midwood Neighborhood close in response to orders for non-essential businesses to close. Some food businesses tried to remain open for takeout, but could not afford to, especially after the college closed.

New York City's Veterans Day Parade, today marking the 100th anniversary of the armistice ending the fighting of the first World War, was attended by a number of people protesting President Trump, who spoke at the opening ceremony, and a smaller number of pro-Trump supporters.
