The doors at the early voting location at Brooklyn College in the Midwood neighborhood opened for voters at 10:00 AM, and a poll worker reported that the first person to arrive got to the doors at 4:30 that morning. A half hour after the polls opened, the line snaked around the block, and up and down Est 24th Street, a block away from Bedford Avenue, and continued on to Avenue J, and up East 23rd Street. The line on East 24th Street and Avenue I.

Small American flags and a child’s red fireman’s helmet were placed in a section of the memorial parapet devoted to firefighters who died in the attack on the World Trade Center.
