Details on the terra cotta decoration on the former Childs Restaurant on the Coney Island boardwalk, with its nautically themed accents by Perth Amboy’s Atlantic Terra Cotta Company, Hiron and Dennison designed it to feed the crowds coming to Coney Island. Completed in 1923, the restaurant closed in 1952. The building was put to other uses, and was vacant in the early 2010s. It’s since been restored, and is now a restaurant again, as well as part of the Ford Amphitheater.
